Item Attributes
Define global attributes to be used across your product variants.
01 Attributes Dashboard
The Attributes tab manages the core properties that make up complex product variants.
Overview
- Empty State: If no attributes exist, you will see a prompt stating "No attribute types found. Create one or import a template to get started."
- Import Template: You can click the "Import Template" button to quickly load standard attributes.
- Search: The "Search attribute types..." bar helps locate existing definitions.
02 Creating an Attribute Type
Click + Create Attribute Type to define a new property.
Definition Fields
- Attribute Name: The mandatory name of the property (e.g., "22K").
- Sort Order: An optional field to dictate display order. It states "Auto-assigned if empty".
Click Create to initialize the attribute.
Real-World Use Cases
- Standardized Sizing: Defining standard global sizing attributes (S, M, L, XL) to ensure consistency when creating variants for any new clothing product.
- Material Tracking: Creating a "Material" attribute (Cotton, Wool, Synthetic) to help customers filter products on an integrated e-commerce storefront.
03 Adding Values
Once created, the attribute appears as a card on the dashboard.
- Initial State: The card displays the attribute name ("22K") and a subtitle "0 values". Inside the card, it indicates "No values yet".
- Adding Entries: Click the + Add button inside the card to define specific values for this attribute type.
- Populated State: As values are added, the subtitle updates (e.g., "2 values") and the specific entries (like "1 x" and "48g x") appear as distinct tags within the card. You can continue adding more using the "+ Add" button.
Why Use Attributes?
- Standardization: Instead of manually typing "22 Karat" or "48 grams" repeatedly for every new item, you create core attributes (like Purity or Weight) once. This guarantees data consistency and prevents typos across your entire inventory.
- Variant Building Blocks: These predefined tags act as the building blocks for rapidly and accurately generating complex product variants during the Product Creation workflow.
